Survey will measure interest in public commercial kitchen

Surveys will be sent out to jam makers, bakers, would-be caterers and anyone else who would be interested in paying for time in the public commercial kitchen to determine what should be included in the project, said John Augustine, senior director of economic and entrepreneurial development for the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry.

About 50 people turned out Wednesday morning for an information session with PennTAP, a Penn State program that assists small businesses, and Cameron Wold, Ph.D., an entrepreneurship expert.

"The response has been fantastic," Augustine said. "I think it bodes well for the project."

The initial survey to determine the makeup of the $2 million to $3 million facility and grant applications for feasibility study funds will be completed by the end of the year, Augustine said.
